Did you use the bolts from smartieparts.com? They dont carry them anymore. I was thinking about buying bolts and doing it the hard way, but I'd much rather use the bolts from smartieparts.com. What was your solution?
Anthony,
I'm planing to built a small BBQ trailer with refrigarator and compartment for EZ-up tent, chears, foldable table and all other important things. It will be much hevier than bike.Therefor I drilled out those vise type thrieds( how to spell it?Any way I don't like them:) and installed two 3x3" steell plates between bamper and body with 5/8" nuts and spaicer welded to it.
6" long 5/8" stainless steell bolt ( my bike rack is stainless too) goes deep into bamper and the braking load will apply on clear part of those bolts. Looks like I have it done in very strong way. I like the result.
If you planning to make a rack just for a bike, I think there is no need for such modification. If bolts from smartieparts.com are not avalable, I'd take caliper, mesure the size of the hole , buy cheap chinees vise with that size shaft , cut it and weld the heads to it.
Seumas, that IS the SVO ratio adjuster..... Sorry, actually its the control for the ipod connection. It will access the different files, songs, artists.. in essence "play lists" from your ipod
I finally figured out how to get the high mileage out of my smart on the highway. It's easy, I just stopped driving 70+mph and viola 45-50 mpg lol. I guess what the epa means by highway is more like 55-60 mph not the 70mph speed limit on Florida's...
George, It was me. I got a little carried away yesterday and started to clean up all the stuff posted. Did you need something that I can re-send you? BTW our primary point of information distribution for the JaxSmart Club is on SmartUSAInsider.com...
