how much do you want for it and what would be the shipping? OR are you planning a trip to San Diego maybe??

Leon,

Did you use the bolts from smartieparts.com? They dont carry them anymore. I was thinking about buying bolts and doing it the hard way, but I'd much rather use the bolts from smartieparts.com. What was your solution?

Thanks a lot.

I have a rack for sale in colorado, if anyone needs one. I never used it, still in the box. You can see it on the smartcarofamerica.com site.

Anthony,
I'm planing to built a small BBQ trailer with refrigarator and compartment for EZ-up tent, chears, foldable table and all other important things. It will be much hevier than bike.Therefor I drilled out those vise type thrieds( how to spell it?Any way I don't like them:) and installed two 3x3" steell plates between bamper and body with 5/8" nuts and spaicer welded to it.
6" long 5/8" stainless steell bolt ( my bike rack is stainless too) goes deep into bamper and the braking load will apply on clear part of those bolts. Looks like I have it done in very strong way. I like the result.
If you planning to make a rack just for a bike, I think there is no need for such modification. If bolts from smartieparts.com are not avalable, I'd take caliper, mesure the size of the hole , buy cheap chinees vise with that size shaft , cut it and weld the heads to it.

I still have an injury so I haven't purchased a rack or new bike yet. I think I'll go with the one from smart e parts though.

I finally figured out how to get the high mileage out of my smart on the highway. It's easy, I just stopped driving 70+mph and viola 45-50 mpg lol. I guess what the epa means by highway is more like 55-60 mph not the 70mph speed limit on Florida's...

Got mine on May 1st 2009 and I already have 8,600 miles on it.
