I saw a youtube video of a group of smart owners from Chicago I believe it was who all got together at some restaurant for pizza and there were 16 wmarties!!! I was quite a sight. I would love to see that many of them together. :)

Where did you purchase your car? I have had a slew of problems with my 2008 smart but the dealership has been nothing but wonderful to me. I'm sorry to hear that you've spent such a fortune on the maintenance. I would be truly outraged. :(

I'm the most popular girl on the block

I was at the construction site today doing a frame-walk for my soon to be completed townhouse and all the construction crew came crowding around my car as I was leaving. They wanted to look inside, to see the engine, asked many many questions... I felt like a star!! I guess up against all the pick up trucks and SUV, my little Frosty is like the new kid in town. Had a blast being the centre of attention. I LOVE MY CAR and I don't care who knows it! Cheers everyone, have a fabulous weekend!

Midtown smart dealership...

I emailed the dealership to see if they might be throwing a similar smart car get-together and Ravi says he'll keep me informed. They may try and organize a customer appreciation event and to try and boost sales for the summer months. This is the right time to do it considering the price of gas keeps going up, up, up!! UNBELIEVABLE!! Luckily I'm smart and I own a smart car. :)

Tent makes a great shady parking spot...

I've been in search for furniture since my new townhouse will be move-in ready in mid-August. Me and my house mate were at the Brick yesterday looking at the tent sale items... we saw the huge red and white tent from the street. Looks like we missed this tent sale as the tent was empty and deserted. Being that it was a hot day, the tent would make for great shade. On advice from my friend Kent, I drove through between two well placed cement blocks and VOILA - instant shade. :) Needless to say… Continue

Sorry i am replying so late but i was off for the whole week. Sorry to hear about your car, i hope the problem has been solved. Has it been fixed? The only way to have it properly fixed is by taking it into the dealership. Try cycling the engine on and offf to see if the problem rectifies itself. If that doesnt work then you will have to bring it in. Other than that, try moving arounf the shifter to see if it will budge.

It would be nice to be able to bring one across the border! But I'm set on waiting until mine comes around next April! It's fun to just hang around the boards and see what everyone else is doing and saying about the smart. Even though I'll be taking possession NEXT year, there will still be very few in this country since max production for U.S. will be 25,000. Can't wait, I'll just have to keep going for test drives until then!

My protege was a 2002 and I figure I should sell it before any major work needs to be done to it (timing belt, transmission etc.) Not bad that I got back $7000 for the protege in a bidding war between two buyers. :) I guess most men want manual transmission so that they can play with the stick and clutch -- its not too common here to find cars that are manual as "automatic" is what 95% of the population drives.

Wow, an entire year to wait. But again, its better to wait for what you want than to take something that is over-priced with all the gadgets that you don't need. Too bad you couldn't just cross the border and bring one back from Canada. :) Wouldn't that be nice?

I had been following this car for a couple of years on the net, but DID NOT know about their internet sales until just THIS year! I reserved one on Jan. 7, 2008 and still have not configured (asked to place my order). The website says I should take delivery between March and May 2009! That's OK with me, I'm willing to wait for what I want. Here we have an "Orphan" lists, were people sign up to purchase a car that someone else ordered but did not take for whatever reason. These orphans usually have all kinds of dealer extras put on to jack up the selling price. I am on one of those lists, BUT I will not settle for anything less than I want. I will order a White with Black Tridion, black leather interior, and all the bells and whistles. This will be our first new car in many, many years just for the wife and I. This will be our second car as I have a wheelchair accessible Kia Sedona van. It has a lowered floor and a side electric ramp. The only time it comes out of the garage is when we have to take Nick out somewhere. It is a 2004 and just turned 10k miles (16,000+ KM). Of course, Nick will also copilot the smart!

Hope Frosty is everything you hoped for. Wish we only had a 2 week wait!

Its only me and Amelie so we have no problems with the lack of extra seats. BTW, when did you get your name on the waiting list for a smart? I can't believe the waiting time in the US is so long... and here I thought that 2 weeks was forever. Now I feel bad because in that short wait, I still had a dealer smart to drive around.

I hope that your son Nick loves the car as much as Amelie does. Its certainly different having her as my sidekick. No more backseat driver, now she's co-pilot.
