Help,
I have a 08 smart 4 two convertible. I love love love my little smart, but recently I discovered, I have a leak. Well, I took it in to Mercedes of Palm Beach, and for 135.00 they confirmed I do indeed have a leak, this was a diagnosis charge. They told me my convertible top shrunk. Can you believe that? Oh, and guess how much a new one cost? 1500.00 Thats right, and it does not include installation. OMG I can't believe this. So I'm driving around with the smell of mold in my car, water sloshing all around me and a wet butt. Whats a girl to do? I don't have that kind of money, I can't trade it in, I owe too much on it, (it was 18,950.00 5/7/08) . Anyone else have this problem? ANYONE?? I thought the dealership or Mercedes should pay for this. How many miles, you might ask ? 29,758 not even thirty thousand yet
Thank you for any input

Did you get them to put that diagnosis in writing, especially since they charged you?
A call to the smart or Mercedes Zone Manager should be your next step - since shrinkage indicates a basic defect in the material. The next call, if not resolved, goes to 1-800-MY-LEMON - a law firm specializing in auto issues.
I also have a 2008 cabrio and have not experienced any leakage (or shrinkage), nor have I seen any notes on that problem in the other smart forum.

Thank you Barry,
what they put in writing was "water leak confirmed" and the service advisor was constantly e-mailing the zone manager asking for help of any kind for my rag top. He said NO.
I wish you luck and happiness & safe driving with your little smart, and Thanks again
