Also, my Mercedes dealer recommends changing out the brass washer every time you remove the drain plug. I bought a few for $2 ea when I got my filter. The Mitsubishi part number for the filter is 1230A040.

the dealer will stick you for $16 for the filter (i just got whacked for $70 for front wiper blades) better off going to advance. when pulling the plug, there is a screen assembly attached to it, about 1-1/2 inches long, just be aware of that when taking it out. smart recommends 10,000 mile intervals, i did my first change at 5000 miles. you can use 5W-30 mobil one, i'm running that now, depends on how cold your winters are and how hot are your summers. if you're in the far north or south 0W-40 is best, but in most of the US you can get by with 5W-30.

Hi Bob, You could go to Advance Auto Parts and get the Bosch # 3300, or your smart dealer for the OEM smart oil filter. Also you will need 3.5 qts. of Mobil 1 0W-40 full synthetic motor oil. And a wrench for the drain plug 24mm or 15/16". Be carfull because there is a screen on the drain plug. I don't know it can fall offf so just watch for it. Good Luck with your first oil change.

I haven't had that problem here. Thank god. This city is full of Smarties - 4 in my neighbourhood alone - so I guess people are used to them.

We took ours through the Rockies to the BC (Canada) coast with no problem at all. Manual mode does work best.

Is Long Island part of the group. If so, I may be interested. I'm in the city quite often.

That's awesome. Thanks, SATO! Hope all is well with you. Things are fine here in Vero Beach. 27,000 miles on my little smart and still lovin' it. Heading to Tampa on Saturday for a meeting. Looking forward to a high mpg trip across the state. :-)

Well Ladies and Germs, Our friend and perfectionist metal working Genius has taken my idea and perfected it. He has come out with a great looking AND functioning rear view mirror that just clips onto the existing mirror puck when you remove the OE o…
