Did you happen to notice if Sugarland has any orphans? I've called them a couple of times, but I really don't want to put $500 down just to get on their dealer-specific list.

I was at the dealer 3/1 and saw one is ready for delivery, it must be yours. Hope you are enjoying it. I just got my vin# and hope mine will be in soon.

I'm not sure. There was a couple putting their on the orphan list, Ralph was telling them the list has 25 names on it. My brother actually paid $500 to get on the list about 4 weeks ago. he configured in 12/07. I should be getting mine pretty soon and I got my vin# already. I reserved 03/07.

Looks like a top-level club was created for Central Texas, so I created one for East Texas as well. You can find them here:

May 5 come out and see the Cannonball Run & smart project car forfiveone

You are invited to get a behind the scenes look at the Cannonball run, while not a specific smart event, it’s will have the 2008 smart fortwo project car named forfiveone and there will be smart owners and enthusiast in the crowd to see what the smart can do on the track.

One of the great things about coming out to the event is that you will not only get the chance to see the forfiveone project car but you will get to see nearly 100 other exotic race cars and get up close with them and the tracks as with this invite you are able to get in the pits and staging areas, basically you can get everywhere except on the actual track.

The smart will be running in the last group of the day so if you arrive late you will still get the chance to see the smart run. There should a few smart owners out to enjoy this notoriously famous event at each track so introduce yourself to the other at the track.

The official website for the event is http://www.onelapofamerica.com and the event information can be found here at http://www.451s.com/oloa

First Central Texas meet-n-drive planned (July 19th)
Hello my fellow smart friends,
finally a Central Texas Cruise. An Austin meet-n-drive. The first one! Saturday July 19th. We'll meet on the deck of Central Market North (CM) at 10am, chat-n-snack a little, then drive. We have a terrific photo op planned for our short drive (send me a private email and I'll divulge the secret). We'll drive a little around Austin, see and be seen by the natives then end the ride at CM (or nearby school parking lot, still in negotiations) for the last photo op with all the smarties. To entice my fellow Austinites, Pflugervillians, Round Rockians, Georgetownians, and those in other outlying areas, I have asked RR smart Center to donate a piece of smart merchandise for a drawing giveaway (all participating smart driver's names in a hat and one drawn for the prize). Please RSVP to this thread, or Rmichael1 on this site, or to [email protected]. If you don't have your smartie yet, I suggest you RSVP, come on down and meet everyone and maybe hitch a ride with a smart owner for the drive.

Paul,

What are the chances of getting a smart maintenance manual? You know, something like a Chilton's that has all the how to stuff. I don't really plan to work on the mechanicals, but I would like instructions on how to take off body parts and things like that.

I have presented this idea to smart USA and they told me an internet subscription based manual would be made available. No ETA on this yet, but I'll be sure to post up when I hear more.

Any update on this? I'm really interested in having a Chilton-style maintenance manual since I like tinkering. :-)

Still no updates. You can count on a new thread started when I have official word. Congrats on your new smart and might I suggest tinted windows to afford you the freedom of unihibited nostril exploration! :)
