I hear they are pretty stable little cars in winter with mixed reviews on winter starting. I was told by salesman the new gas versions started all last winter at -35, without block heaters. Now THATS hard on a wee motor! Anyone know if block heaters are available to ease the cold starts?

Any other personal experiences regarding winter driving? I'll be buying one for 8 semesters of commuting to university, from Ponoka to Edmonton. I've test drove and researched, and talked to 2 smart owners and have decided this is the way to go, am just concerned about cold morning start-ups.

Thanks for any comments!

Have just had e-mail from smart.ca and they are confident enough in their product not to even offer a block heater. Hope they are right!
