When you come to own a Smart it is just not like buying another car. This experience is going to change your life for good. The moment you take the keys turn the ignition on and drive off the dealers parking lot you have just stepped into the world of being a celebrity. Your life from this point on is going to change. The trip to mall or super market is going to take longer because you have a line of people who have questions about your car. Your coworkers are going to be jealous of you as you have just stolen the spotlight from them and focused it on yourself. You are going to make tons of new friends and you have just become part of a whole new group of people who are changing America. Yes you are changing the whole culture of the Automobile industry in America and being a pioneer at it after Henry Ford invented the automobile.
Like it or not but be per paired you are going to stand out where ever you go. You are now an Ambassador of helping America adapt a new life style and culture and Open their Minds.

After being in Europe for 10 years the Smart, thank God has lost its some of its novelty. But you are correct, When i brought my first Smart 1999 it was the only Smart in Santa Margherita, Portofino for around 2 weeks untill the second one arrived and yes when i came out of a shop there was always people looking at it, mainly Americans. What is it with you people, must be you have always had big cars!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
But i never thought or got the feeling I had just stepped into the world of being a celebrity (451Khan), It would take a lot more than a Smart around here too many real ones around in Santa Margherita a lot of them American. And to finish, yes it has changed my life, its much easier to park....................

- In my line of work I travel quite a bit around central Florida. Seeing people's reactions when I'm tooling along on the FL Turnpike, having no problem keeping up with traffic is priceless. I still enjoy the quizes at the gas station. Questions about it being an electric car while I'm pumping premium are the best. MPG's and Price seem to top the Q&A list. I have just a few flyers left of the batch given to me by Judson at SmartCenterOrlando when I bought it. In a hurry to get someplace, don't stop at the 7/ 11 for an energy drink because you will surely be stopped to answer "a few" questions. Yes the smart is very celebrity. Its not uncommon to walk out of the store and see someone taking pictures with their cellphone or looking it over (Tinted windows is a must). stay smart!

- You are so right. Since I bought my Smart every trip is a joy. Driving to the super market or picking up a bottle of red wine. People are all over you. Trying to find out what Smart is?
