That 16.9 seconds is very misleading.
I own a new March 2010 Passion Cdi with the new 54Hp engine and blimey with all that low down tourque especially in 3rd and 4th gears the car feels far quicker than 16sec to 100km.

Actually the diesel is cheaper to maintain than a gas or petrol powered Smart because generally diesels are far more reliable than gas powered vehicles due to the very high compression needed in the diesel process.

Now that is strange because this very morning 12/02/2010 i was looking at the specification of the new far more expensive Polo Bluemotion and yep they trounced the Smart with their lower CO2 emissions of 87.

116 actually, but you have to drive it very carefully to get that sort of economy.

Only £124 here in the Uk which was at a Mercedes dealership.
