Last year I drove a couple of times on slushy/salty/snowy streets in the suburbs of Detroit. I thought I was going to die. I had white knuckles for 20 miles. I couldn't go any faster than 30 MPH, or the car would start to "float & twist" on the slush. Normal sized cars were flying by me throwing slush on my windshield. Several months ago, I thought it would be cool to add a Wind Up Key to my car for the Woodward Dream Cruise. So I designed one in SolidWorks and machined it in my garage. It worked great ~ I was the most "pointed at", "laughed at" car in the cruise. It was so much fun. The key has a gear motor, ball bearings, etc. I used a 12 volt to 6 volt DC-to-DC converter to slow it down to about 40 RPM. I would turn it off when stopped and turn it on when moving.
