Buying a used Smart car

I am considering buying a late model smart passion or pure smart. Are there any problems I should watch out for when buying. Are the Diesel engines problematic as they are no longer available in Canada. Are there any mechanical or electrical problems with these vehicles. Any help would be greatly appreciated
