451 smart fortwo

First I noticed that my rear window won\t latch. Then I discovered that I cannot lock the window or either door. It's not the fuse; I checked and discovered the same fuse is for the horn, which works. I've tried locking with the remote and locking from the inside -- no luck. I've noticed that the lights don't flash when I Press the lock button, but they do flash for the unlock button.

Any suggestions?

I've seen it before on other cars. Lubed up the latch with Dupont Dry Teflon on the rear window and open and closed several times until it finally worked in, finally worked perfect afterwords and once the rear hatch closes everything else will work as advertised.

About 4 months after I purchased my smart, I had a problem like this. They found out that the plug that connects the drivers side door lock @ the door handle was coming loose. They reconnected it and secured it with a small plastic wire tie. Done. Never had a problem again.

I had this happen to my smart. Cleaned the glass latch and all was good.

Anybody know what metric size wrench to use on the motor oil drain plug? Evilution says 24mm, but that is too big.

would it not make more sense to orient that contraption horizontally to let you see in the rear view mirror AND to lower its center of gravity? I bet it wobbles like a bobble head down the road!
