Did I say Tempomat? I'll say it again and again until I'm blue in the face, or Mercedes Benz realise they've dropped a big booboo by not fitting this indispensable piece of equipment in the new model.

you have 3 choices, one company claims to have a working control for about $500 (http://www.smartieparts.com/shop/index.php?main_page=product_info&a...;) another is working on a CC unit for the smart , no price, but they might have the part soon (http://smartcarcruisecontrol.com/) and another, which might have been selling the item the first company is selling, but retracted from sale due to some failures with the 451. (http://www.smart-parts-direct.com/acatalog/Interior_cabin.html). i would maybe use CC on weekends for trips, my daily commutes currently suck, i spend as much time on the brake pedal as the gas, if not more!
i hope this helps you a little.
Thanks very much for the info. I will research all of them as I have plenty :( of time waiting for delivery...I'm hoping to pick up an orphan sooner.
OK. I can remove the blue tint at last. It seems that it's taken Mercedes only 4 years to realize their mistake and they've decided to include Cruise Control in the 2010 Smart upgrade this autumn. Hooray.
It was not a mistake, it had more to do with the lack of space on the smarts drive by wire computer and its allowable inputs. There was simply no more room for it in the current design.
I'm not sure I understand your comment. There are 2 aftermarket cruise control systems available to us here in North America. Surely, if the engineers who developed these systems were able to make them work with '08 & '09 smarts, MB's engineers could have done likewise.

Regards,

Dan
those aftermarket cruise controllers are piggy backed and are not part of the ECU. they are wired separately.
And now CC is available from the OEM. Looks like they figured out how to do it in the same amount of room.

Regards,

Dan
Smart Madness sells a very easy cruise control to install that has a built in adjustable sprint booster.
oh, it is terrible
