Are the Winners Really Winners? Possible Off-By-One Error!

The first 4 winners of the smart have been announced today. The announcement lists the member numbers. However, if you visit the profile pages of the winners, their member numbers are off by one.

For example, the announcement says that Steve Noton is member #12. However his profile shows "steve noton is member #11 of 451 smart fortwo".

What happened there? Did the admin miscount? And if so, are we going to have new corrected winners?

Permalink Reply by smart on February 1, 2008 at 7:30pm: Ah that is interesting I do see that the community software says that Steve Noton is member #11. I also see in the backend it says he's #12, the difference is that in the backend it counted this account "smart" as a member but it doesn't count it in the member total that is shown to members.

So a lesson learned on our end and what we'll do is give a second batch of smarts out this month, so that the member numbers match properly and future months we'll know to not count the account "smart" as a member.

This means those 4 people that were notified as winners are still winners and we have 4 more winners this month, they are:

1) Sly

2) Creativer

3) Eddie2007

4) Nathan davidsson

I've also updated the winners list and future months there will be only 4 winners based on the member list minus the "smart" member account.
