hows the weather down there? i am from milwaukee,wisconsin and have a smart passion cabriolet all silver with 17inch genius wheels and i love it. hows your gas milage? i am getting close to 50 mph, i have the dual exhaust and the k&n air intake with the carbon fiber scoop. maybe you can email me and let me know how your mileage compars.

Yes, that's exactly how it's suppose to work. As they alluded to above, there's two ways to go from auto to manual.
1. move the shifter from auto to manual (and back)

Thats how it is... Hold the right paddle for a few seconds, and your back in auto...
That's the way it's supposed to be.
Using the paddles is a manual mode... hence you have put the smart into manual.
