Alright Texas, I know we don't have our cars just yet, but let's get this club started. My name is Paul, I'm the Parts Manager for smart center Round Rock just north of Austin. Is anyone else out there?

Paul- My Smart dealer(San Antonio) is closed today, so I am trying to get some answers to my questions. Paul do you know if we can opt for a change in the front tire size from 155/60 R15 to 175/60 R15? I heard the Smart has understeer and if one can get the 175 it will minimize this problem. I heard one has to do it on a confirmed order, haven't put my CO in yet, so maybe there is still time if this is true????Let me know?
I originally order the Passion in Metallic Blue w/Metallic Silver Tridion and Beige interior, but my wife didn't like the beige. She wanted the comfort package but didn't want the black leather. Does the leather come in anything other than black? I saw the leather in gray in a photo on a website.
Motorweek television is showing the Smart this Sunday on KLRN. I saw it today and it gave the Smart a few kudos. They didn't cover braking however.
When I first ordered my Smart I ordered one thinking it ran on Regular fuel, but when I test drove it in Austin the Reps said it used only Premium. Lately my dealer said it used Regular. After checking a lot of websites some say both. One site said use Regular if you keep it under 3000 RPM and another said to use Premium every third fill up. In Austin- the Smart Rep said in Europe the grading is different. I am confused as to what is true. What do you think?

Paul, You said you wanted to get a discussion for Texas people so here I am, a texas resident, waiting for a reply to my last blog(Jan 19). I believed -you being a Parts Manager - could answer my questions. Was I wrong? I know, I know, you have other important things to do as a Manager, but you could increase the parts sales of your dealership by listing your website and becoming the resident expert on parts to club members. My blog, I am sure, is of widespread interest to more than myself. Neal

All 451 Club Members- This is to inform you that Classicsmart (Paul) did in fact contact me. Paul, from what I can tell, is a resident expert on parts. He is trying to set up a Texas connection within the 451 club and he really helped me out in answering my questions and concerns. I hope he stays with the club as he can help a lot of our members with questions and problems. WELCOME ABOARD -CLASSICSMART-Paul.

Hello Paul,
Just picked up my Silver / black / leather orphan car tonight from the smart center of Round Rock. Looks great and can't wait to drive it around tomorrow. You guys are doing a great job over there and the experience was very nice indeed. I am sure I'll be back soon to pick up an item or two.
yep, they got 3 car in the showroom, no test car for test drive yet and a week or two ago they stated in the paper that the waiting list for Houston is 550 and they are getting 360 can this year. if these numbers apply for both then it will be about 18 months before number 550 gets their car delivered.
I wonder if the number are for all of Houston or just that dealership, north Houston will have a dealership open in February.
"We think it's going to be a hit," says James Sparks, chief financial officer at Mercedes Benz of Sugar Land, one of two Benz dealerships in town that will sell the cars, which are made in France by Daimler. "We'll only get about 360 Smart cars for the year, but we have about 550 people committed to the car already."
