Also note that this divider/cargo cover has a built in stowage location. It snaps into identical recesses as the top location located near the bottom of the rear deck. Found it by accident. The dealer "installed" mine and didn't give me any paperwork that may or may not have come with it. When I told them about how it stored they were surprised to know it. Go figure. You don't even have to detach the velcro. Just drape it down behind the seats. Cool design.

One other problem with either of the blind systems is that if you have "modified" your seats to recline further than the stock detent positions, the bar that is part of these systems will not engage the top position.

One of the problems with the smart is that the seats (as designed) do not recline enough for comfortable seating. The driver side as built is close enough to comfortable to leave it as is, but the bolt-upright passenger seat is almost a deal-breaker. The next generation needs another couple of inches in the passenger area to be comfortable, at least as much so as other compact and sub-compact cars.

When I tried hauling groceries home they rolled under the front seats. I solved the problem by setting a large laundry basket inthe back, and put the things I buy in it. I have a cabrio, and can slide the basket out without opening the top. When I'm hauling luggage I simply leave the basket at home. It works for me and cost less than $10! I've been using this for 11 months.

I see that the part number has been provided by D Wilson for the retractable luggage compartment cover. In any case, if you go to www.smartusa.com/smart-accessories.aspx you will be able to find the link to view the catalog.
You can find many of the "official' Accessories from Smart. I also saw this at www.smartmadness.com they have a part number A4518100009 if you are not local to a smartcenter in the US you could order it. The upper cage allowing even more to be piled in to the back was not seen on the smartmadness site but you should be able to find that through the dealer or maybe another mail order site. I brought mine from Plaza Motors in St. Louis. They had to order them for me and they came in two types. The first one was a Roller Blind cost $149.00. Has a post that come up halfway up the seats and fits in the groves across the sides. It had 2 netting pockets facing the front of the car and velcro across the bottom that attach to the carpet and keep things from rolling to the front.
The second one, Luggage Net cost me $249.00. It attaches to the roof of the car and down to the carpet. Keeps things piled high from flying into the front of the car. It also has a screen that can hide whats in the back from the window down. Cost me $75.00 to have them install it. You can use either, but not at the same time.
